Trump Threatens Legal Action After Trevor Noah’s Epstein Joke at Grammy Awards

US President Donald Trump has threatened legal action against Trevor Noah, host of the 68th Grammy Awards, following a joke linking him to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein during the ceremony on Monday.

The controversy arose shortly after Noah congratulated Billie Eilish for winning Song of the Year for her track Wildflower. In a brief political aside, the South African comedian quipped that the Grammy was “almost as much as Trump wants Greenland,” referencing the president’s past remarks about acquiring the Arctic territory.

Noah escalated the joke by adding that Trump

may be looking for “a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton” since Epstein’s death, a comment that immediately drew the ire of the US president.

Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump dismissed the Grammy Awards as “virtually unwatchable” before launching a direct attack on Noah. The president denied ever visiting Epstein Island, insisting that the joke was “false and defamatory” and accusing the comedian of spreading misinformation.

“I’ll be sending my lawyers,” Trump wrote, describing Noah as a “talentless” and “pathetic” host, while threatening to sue over the remarks.

The incident comes amid renewed scrutiny over Epstein’s ties to powerful figures. Although Trump previously moved in overlapping social circles with Epstein in Florida and New York, he has repeatedly denied involvement in any illegal activities connected to the financier.

Last Friday, more than three million documents linked to Epstein were released, mentioning several high-profile individuals, including Bill Clinton, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Prince Andrew.

Trump’s name also appeared in the records, though no new criminal allegations were made.

Noah, who announced that this would be his final year hosting the Grammys, has largely avoided political commentary during previous ceremonies.
