Bimbo Ademoye Wins Copyright Battle As YouTube Dispute Ends In Her Favour
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has expressed relief and gratitude after a protracted copyright dispute involving her YouTube film Where Love Lives was finally resolved in her favour.
The actress announced the development in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, thanking her mother, close friends, collaborators, and her loyal online fanbase—fondly called her “cyber family”—for their unwavering support throughout the ordeal.
Ademoye revealed that the dispute stemmed from a fraudulent copyright claim by an individual using the name Emmanuel Davies, who falsely asserted ownership of a song featured in the film. Despite the actress having full rights and consent from the original artist, the song was allegedly uploaded to digital platforms, including Spotify, under the impostor’s name.
The false claim triggered a copyright strike on Ademoye’s YouTube channel, leading to the demonetisation of Where Love Lives, a December 2025 release that had already garnered millions of views. Revenue generated during the disputed period was reportedly diverted.
Describing the experience as emotionally draining, Ademoye said the situation left her in tears and forced her to consider legal action while demanding the immediate removal of the fraudulent claim.
With the issue now resolved and the infringing content taken down, the actress said she is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support she received, crediting her fans’ swift action and collective reporting for helping to bring the matter to a close.
