NAF Precision Strikes Neutralise Insurgents in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has decimated key terrorist hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State. Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the force’s spokesperson, confirmed the strikes occurred on Friday evening near Ali Sheriffti. Intelligence reports previously identified the location as a critical staging ground for insurgent activities, prompting a coordinated surveillance-and-attack mission.

Aerial assets tracked insurgents as they navigated through dense vegetation, eventually leading to their concealed structures. The NAF deployed precision-guided munitions to engage these targets after confirming their identity. Military officials report the structures were thoroughly destroyed, effectively stripping the insurgents of cover and limiting their operational freedom in the region.

This action reflects a shift toward intelligence-led warfare, in which persistent surveillance precedes offensive strikes to minimize collateral damage while maximizing impact. By targeting these hidden enclaves, the NAF aims to fracture the logistical networks supporting terrorist cells in the North East. The military maintains that these strikes are essential to degrading the insurgency’s capacity to regroup and launch attacks.

Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff, reaffirmed the military’s intent to keep the pressure on these networks. The command strategy remains focused on denying hostiles any haven, regardless of how deeply they bury their operations under forest cover. Officials state that these tactical operations will continue with heightened frequency to secure the region.

The ongoing conflict in Borno continues to demand high-level coordination between air and ground intelligence. While the destruction of these hideouts is a notable tactical success, it forms part of a larger, grinding effort to reclaim territory from persistent militant groups. The NAF remains committed to dismantling these cells through relentless and precise force.
