Amosun Backs Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election, Says It’s Key To National Growth And Stability
Former Ogun State Governor and Senator, Ibikunle Amosun, has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, describing it as critical to Nigeria’s growth, political stability, and long-term development.
Amosun made the declaration on Saturday while speaking with journalists during activities marking his 68th birthday anniversary in Ake, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The former senator stressed that Nigeria’s long-standing rotational presidency arrangement between the North and South must be respected in the interest of equity, fairness, and national unity.
According to him, it is only just for the South to complete an eight-year presidential tenure, following the eight years served by former President Muhammadu Buhari from the North.

Reaffirming his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Amosun said adherence to zoning remains a “no-brainer” for anyone genuinely committed to Nigeria’s stability.
“In the interest of Nigeria, we must observe rotation. If the North takes the presidency, the South must take it next,” he said.
“The last president from the North, President Muhammadu Buhari, served eight years. Now it is the turn of the South, and President Bola Tinubu is in the saddle, representing not just the South-West, but Nigeria as a whole.”
Amosun acknowledged that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration initially came with hardship but insisted they are beginning to yield positive results.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient, expressing confidence that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda would ultimately deliver meaningful dividends of democracy.
The birthday event drew several APC stalwarts, including former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Lekan Adegbite; former Minister of State for Transportation, Ademola Adegoroye; former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Isola; former CBN Deputy Governor, Tunde Lemo; and former senators Iyabo Anisulowo and Gbenga Obadara, alongside party loyalists and supporters.
