Globacom Donates N1bn To Boost Lagos Security Infrastructure

Telecommunications giant Globacom has donated ₦1 billion to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) in a major boost to ongoing efforts to strengthen security infrastructure across Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The donation stands as one of the largest single private-sector contributions from the telecommunications industry in recent years, underscoring Globacom’s strong commitment to public safety, stability and sustainable development in Lagos State.

According to a statement issued on the donation, the gesture followed Globacom’s participation in a Private Sector Breakfast Meeting with Chief Executive Officers, organised by the LSSTF and hosted by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on January 30, 2026.

The high-level forum focused on deepening collaboration between government and the private sector to address pressing security challenges, while also exploring innovation-driven solutions to support economic resilience. Globacom’s contribution, the statement noted, aligns with the company’s long-standing support for public-private partnerships that deliver measurable social impact.

Reacting to the donation, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the LSSTF, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, described the ₦1bn contribution as “a powerful demonstration of corporate citizenship and a strategic investment in the stability of Lagos State.”

Ogunsan explained that the funds would significantly enhance the Trust Fund’s capacity to meet critical security needs in 2026. These include the acquisition of multipurpose helicopters and surveillance drones, armoured personnel carriers, water cannons, advanced digital communication equipment, and the expansion of Smart CCTV surveillance systems across key locations in the state.

He stressed that sustained private-sector support remains vital to ensuring a safer Lagos, calling on residents to consciously support businesses that invest in the state’s security and development.

“Public patronage of socially responsible companies directly strengthens our collective security, protects lives and property, and helps stimulate economic activity,” Ogunsan said.

A senior Globacom executive also reaffirmed the company’s belief that security is a shared responsibility between government, businesses and citizens.

“When people feel safe, enterprise grows, creativity flourishes and hope becomes practical. Our support for the Lagos State Security Trust Fund is about protecting the everyday dreams of millions of Lagosians,” the executive said.

Beyond security, Globacom has built a reputation for wide-ranging corporate social investments across Nigeria. These include relief interventions for flood-affected communities, support for internally displaced persons, youth skills development programmes, and sustained investments in education, culture and digital inclusion.

The ₦1bn donation further reinforces Globacom’s position as a leading corporate partner in Lagos State’s quest to maintain safety, economic vibrancy and social stability.
