JAMB Begins 2026 Change of Course, Institution Process

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially opened the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination change of institution and course process, giving candidates the opportunity to alter their institution or programme choices at any approved Computer Based Test centre nationwide.

The board disclosed this in a notice issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, on X.

“Candidates wishing to change their institution or programme of choice may now proceed to do so visiting any of the Board’s approved CBT. Applicants are advised to visit any accredited CBT centre to effect the changes,” the statement read.

In the same notice, JAMB announced that printing of the original 2026 UTME result slips would commence on Monday, May 18, 2026. Candidates were advised to visit accredited CBT centres to obtain their result slips and access other related services.

The announcement follows weeks of anticipation among candidates after JAMB released the 2026 UTME results but withheld the printing of official result slips, restricting candidates to checking their scores only through SMS.

The result slip is a critical document for candidates proceeding through the university admission process, as tertiary institutions typically require it as part of screening and post UTME documentation.

JAMB has in recent years centralised most of its candidate services through accredited CBT centres spread across the country, a policy intended to decentralise access and reduce bottlenecks at its zonal and state offices.

The 2026 UTME cycle has drawn significant public attention following widespread reports of poor candidate performance that sparked national debate over examination standards, curriculum delivery, and student preparedness at the secondary school level.
