Wilfred Ndidi Launches DIIDS Underwear Brand

Wilfred Ndidi Launches DIIDS Underwear Brand

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has entered the fashion business with DIIDS, a new lifestyle brand offering men’s and women’s underwear as he builds a future beyond football.

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has expanded his interests beyond football with the launch of DIIDS, a lifestyle brand that begins with underwear and other everyday essentials for men and women.

The Nigerian midfielder unveiled the brand in Lagos on August 31, marking his entry into the fashion and lifestyle business while continuing his professional football career with Turkish club Beşiktaş. The latest reports on the venture show DIIDS being promoted as a brand built around comfort, quality and everyday wear.

Ndidi is also the face of the new brand, appearing in promotional images for the collection. The initial range includes underwear for both male and female customers, with the products offered in different multipack options.

The launch represents another side of the 29-year-old footballer’s career, as he begins to develop a commercial identity that is separate from his activities on the pitch.

‘There is life beyond the game’

For Ndidi, the decision to enter business is connected to his plans for the future.

Explaining the motivation behind DIIDS, he said football had provided him with a platform but that he was conscious of building something that could exist beyond his playing career.

“Football has given me a platform, but I know there is life beyond the game. DIIDS is an opportunity for me to build something that reflects my interests and can stand on its own as a brand.”

The project forms part of a wider personal vision identified as “WN — Built for Legacy”, which reflects Ndidi’s stated interest in entrepreneurship, media, mentorship and creating opportunities outside professional football.

Rather than presenting DIIDS simply as a footballer’s side business, Ndidi has positioned the venture as the beginning of a broader lifestyle brand with ambitions beyond its initial product range.

From football to fashion

The underwear launch gives Ndidi a new commercial direction at a point when he remains active at the highest level of professional football.

He has spent much of his career establishing himself as a defensive midfielder, first in England with Leicester City and later with Beşiktaş in Turkey. His reputation on the football field has given him an existing public profile that can also support his activities away from the sport.

DIIDS now adds fashion and consumer products to that portfolio.

The brand’s first collection focuses on everyday underwear, with an emphasis on breathable materials, supportive fits and practical use. The men’s and women’s ranges are intended to serve consumers looking for basic clothing products that combine functionality with a contemporary appearance.

Reports on the launch also indicate that the products are being marketed through online platforms, giving the business a route to customers beyond a physical retail setting.

Business lessons from his childhood

Ndidi has linked his interest in entrepreneurship to experiences from his childhood in Nigeria.

He recalled helping his mother sell fruit and also selling groundnuts while growing up. Those experiences, he said, contributed to his understanding of hard work, discipline and responsibility.

For the footballer, those early experiences remain part of the foundation of his approach to building a business.

“I want to leave every place better than I found it. For me, that is what legacy means,” he said.

That idea of legacy is central to the identity behind DIIDS and the wider WN platform.

The venture is therefore not only about introducing another underwear label into the Nigerian market. It also represents Ndidi’s attempt to establish a business that can continue developing as his football career eventually moves towards its later stages.

Building beyond the pitch

Ndidi’s move into entrepreneurship follows a familiar path among professional footballers, many of whom have used their sporting profiles to establish interests in fashion, food, property, media and other industries.

What distinguishes the DIIDS launch is that Ndidi is entering the market while still playing professionally, rather than waiting until the end of his football career.

The timing allows him to develop business experience while maintaining his position as a prominent Nigerian footballer.

The brand also gives him an opportunity to develop an identity beyond his role as a Super Eagles midfielder. While football remains central to his public profile, DIIDS provides a platform through which he can explore another industry and develop a consumer-facing business.

The first products are underwear and everyday essentials, but the company’s stated ambition is broader. Ndidi hopes to grow DIIDS from its African roots into a globally recognised lifestyle brand.

For now, the footballer is balancing two demanding careers: representing Nigeria and his club on the pitch while learning the responsibilities that come with building a consumer brand.

DIIDS marks the first major step in that second journey, giving Wilfred Ndidi a new role as a businessman alongside his established identity as one of Nigeria’s leading midfielders.
