“Money Isn’t Everything,” GehGeh Slams Peller Over Jarvis Marriage

Two of Nigeria’s most-followed TikTok personalities are once again at the centre of online debate, this time over the question of whether wealth alone qualifies a young man for marriage. Social media commentator Ojaigho Prosper, popularly known as GehGeh, has publicly faulted the decision of TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, to marry his partner Elizabeth Aminata, popularly called Jarvis.

Peller fulfilled essential traditional marriage requirements by paying the bride price for Jarvis in Benin City, Edo State, weeks after he proposed to her in Accra, Ghana. Announcing the milestone on Sunday, he shared a video from the family introduction on Instagram and wrote, “Today, I proudly paid the bride price of the woman I love.”

Reacting on his X handle the same day, GehGeh questioned whether financial success was sufficient reason to wed, insisting that emotional and mental preparedness should also count. “Y’all are justifying his act with ‘he has the money allow him’. But y’all failed to ask yourself if he’s ready mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually,” he wrote, adding that “everything isn’t all about the money.”

He also expressed disappointment that Peller proceeded despite his counsel, arguing that the content creator was still young with more personal growth ahead of him. “You still growing as a child why get married now eehn.. I tried my possible best to help you but you failed to listen to me.. Peller don go marry Jarvis.. upon all my advice this boy still pour spit for my face,” he said. According to GehGeh, those backing the decision on grounds of Peller’s financial stability should ask whether they would encourage a younger relative to marry at a similar age.

The criticism revives a familiar pattern in the pair’s public relationship. Peller and Jarvis have been together since 2024 and, through viral collaborations and pranks, have become one of the internet’s most-discussed young couples. The relationship has drawn unsolicited commentary before. Actor Odunlade Adekola once confronted Peller at a movie premiere over his treatment of Jarvis, warning him not to disturb her.

The couple have also weathered controversy beyond their personal conduct. In March 2026, Jarvis publicly appealed to the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, for forgiveness after backlash over an unauthorised visit to the Benin Royal Palace, which the Benin Traditional Council described as a violation of palace customs. That episode unfolded in the same Edo State setting where the bride price has now been paid.

Added context sharpens the present debate. Peller recently revealed that Jarvis is pregnant, describing the union as the beginning of their love journey and thanking both families for their blessings. The disclosure has fed wider conversation about the timing of the marriage.

Reactions to GehGeh’s intervention remain split. Some users defended Peller, citing his financial stability and capacity to provide, while others maintained that maturity goes beyond wealth and that readiness matters equally.

What follows is uncertain. Neither Peller nor Jarvis has fixed a date for a white wedding, and GehGeh has not indicated whether he intends to press the matter further. For now, the exchange underscores how the private milestones of Nigeria’s young digital stars increasingly play out as public referendums on age, money, and readiness.
